Manoj Kumar Rawat
Founder, Rural Rethink Advisory
“Three decades across private, multinational, public and Government institutions, portfolios and geographies teaches you things no framework fully captures. I started Rural Rethink Advisory to put that learning to work — for institutions navigating the real complexity of climate-aligned rural and agricultural finance.”
Manoj Kumar Rawat is a senior practitioner with over three decades of experience spanning rural banking, agricultural and MSME finance, development finance, climate-aligned lending, and multilateral programme design across India, South Asia and Africa.
After senior leadership roles across government, banking and private sector institutions, he chose to focus more directly on the rural and agricultural finance ecosystem, with a current focus on climate-aligned lending, portfolio strategy, and institutional capacity building.
About the Founder
Effective advisory in agriculture and rural finance requires a direct understanding of seasonal credit cycles, informal income assessments, and warehouse receipt negotiations. It involves navigating NPA recoveries after poor monsoons, regulatory inspections, and last-mile delivery challenges.
Manoj Kumar Rawat brings three decades of experience to these areas, spanning rural banking, agricultural and MSME finance, commodity and warehouse finance, and microfinance. His current work focuses on climate-aligned finance, where institutional credit is structured to address the risks and opportunities of the carbon economy.
